From the internal hackathon to the Grand Finale, follow the key stages of the Smart India Hackathon 2026 journey.
Registration and onboarding of Single Point of Contacts for the internal hackathon process.
Institutions conduct their internal hackathon to identify promising student teams and ideas.
Problem statements for Smart India Hackathon are launched for participating institutions.
Compilation of the internal hackathon report followed by uploading the required details on the portal.
Top-performing teams are nominated and their ideas are submitted on the SIH portal.
Submitted ideas undergo the screening and evaluation process.
Results of the screening process are published for participating teams.

Everything you need to know before registering for the Internal Hackathon. Please review the terms, registration requirements, and event details carefully.
Participation Guidelines
The following conditions apply to all teams participating in the Internal Hackathon. Submission of a proposal will be considered an acceptance of these participation requirements.
Each team should consist of six student members, all from Calcutta University. Cross-department collaboration is allowed, and every team must include at least one female member and a team leader.
A single team, with all 6 members identical, can submit ideas against maximum of 2 Problem Statements only, but separate registration should be done for each proposal. At least 3 members from each team must be physically present at the venue to defend the proposal.
A non-refundable registration fee of INR 500 per team must be deposited in the IIC CU bank account.
The screenshot of the registration payment must be uploaded along with the proposal during the registration process.
Provide a short team name of no more than 15 characters while submitting the proposal.
The decision of the jury members on evaluation of the proposals will be final.
The name of any faculty member, if any, should not be mentioned anywhere in the proposal, Google Form, or the Internal Hackathon presentation.
All communications from the organizers will be primarily directed to the team leader. Organizers will not take responsibility for any lack of communication between team members.
Once a proposal is submitted, the team leader and mandatory female member cannot be changed before the Internal Hackathon.
If a member wants to step down after the proposal is submitted, and provides a sufficient acceptable reason, no new member can be inducted before the Internal Hackathon.
Important
Teams are advised to carefully review every requirement before submitting their proposal, as certain team details cannot be modified after submission.
